National Collegiate Rugby Championship 7s 2025
This past weekend, UMass 7s competed in the National Collegiate Rugby Championship.
We opened the tournament Friday morning with a dominant 35–14 win over Missouri. That afternoon, we faced #1-seeded South Carolina in the national quarterfinal and pulled off a thrilling 20–19 comeback victory (check our latest reel for the unbelievable final sequence). The win punched our ticket to Saturday’s national semifinal, where we fell just short to UNC–Charlotte in a hard-fought 10–7 battle. We finished the weekend with a loss in the 3rd place match against a talented Louisville side.
While we always aim for the top, finishing 4th in the nation is a testament to the relentless work and belief this team put in all year. Combined with our #3 national ranking in 15s this fall, it marks another step forward for UMass Rugby.
Huge thank you to our coaches, families, fans, and especially our senior class—who helped elevate this program from a rebuilding team to one of the top D1-AA programs in the country.
